About Me
I'm a Georgia native, born and raised! I grew up in Rockdale County, attended UWG for undergraduate school, and have been a D.A.T.E. family member for 8 years now. I'm also married and have a lovely dog. I have degrees in MGED ELA/SS, Technology Curriculum Integration and School Counseling. Over the years my love for teaching students merged into one for helping them become more academically, socially and emotionally aware.

Who We Are |

What We Do
|
Here at D.A.T.E. the goal is to make sure that students receive individual counseling, classroom guidance, career planning and group counseling if they need those services.
Individualized Counseling: This would look like me talking privately with your student about everyday issues, keeping it private, helping them set goals and helping them move forward. This is short term and meant to assist them in being successful. Classroom Guidance: I get the awesome task of helping students develop character and work through issues they may be having as a grade level, classroom or group. Career Planning: For K-5th it is an introduction to careers of all types! They will go through a few career lessons that help build their portfolio, and our 5th grades have a culminating project that the State of Georgia assigns them every year. Our 6th-8th graders complete portfolios, college readiness and high school planning. Group Counseling: This can be a group to address specific behaviors, promote positive decisions and behaviors or social skills. Students are sent with a permission slip to parents, it is completely optional and only meets 5 times for 20 minutes during their lunch period. All are done in confidentiality to allow students to speak freely*. Teachers, administration and students themselves can request to see the counselor if they feel I am needed. Parents can also make a request be it out of concern for their child's academic, social or emotional development. *If a child is in danger or hurting themselves, being harmed, or harming others then contact with the appropriate guardian is made and we move forward from there, otherwise we keep our conversations confidential. |
